European Patent Academy Conference

European Patent Academy Conference OC06-2011
"Clean energy technologies and patent management"
20 - 21 June 2011
Thon Hotel Opera, Oslo, Norway

Dear Madam, dear Sir,

Patents are a driver and a support for new economic developments. This is
particularly important in the field of ecology. With the conference "Clean
energy technologies and patent management" in Oslo on 20 and 21 June, the
European Patent Academy offers a unique opportunity to discover and make
better use of the multiple roles of patents in this domain which is crucial
for our society.

Six countries - Japan, USA, Germany, Republic of Korea, France and the UK -
are the source of almost 80% of all innovations in CET. This is one of the
key findings of a patent-based study jointly conducted by the European
Patent Office (EPO), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and
the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development (ICTSD).

The conference will present this study and give insight into the
perspectives of industries, providing an update on new developments,
experiences and challenges in CET. Professional practitioners from
CET-business and the world of patents will exchange their views with the
authors of the study. A new classification system created by the EPO,
improving direct and easy access to 400 000 CET-related patent documents,
will also be introduced.

The event is organised by
